All species of the amaryllis plant are toxic if eaten by cats and can cause symptoms, such as vomiting, tremors, abdominal pain, diarrhea and depression. The bulbs of the amaryllis plant are very toxic and pose the greatest danger to cats.
Other plants that are toxic to cats are, aloe vera, lilies, jade plants, daffodils, cycads and asparagus ferns, according to University of California, Davis's Center for Companion Animal Health. If a cat ingests any of these toxic plants, they may experience symptoms such as ataxia, hyper salivation, low blood pressure and shock. In some cases, ingestion of these toxic plants may be fatal for a cat.
